Amsterdam ArenA, now known as Johan Cruijff ArenA, is the largest stadium in the Netherlands and home to AFC Ajax. Opened in 1996, it was one of the first stadiums in Europe to have a retractable roof, allowing matches and concerts to be played in any weather. The stadium can hold around 55,000 spectators for football matches and more for concerts.
One of its most famous moments was hosting the UEFA Euro 2000 games, including a thrilling semi-final between Italy and the Netherlands. It also hosted the 2013 UEFA Europa League final and will be a venue for UEFA Euro 2024.
Apart from football, Johan Cruijff ArenA has welcomed global superstars like Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and U2 for concerts. The stadium is also known for its sustainability efforts, using solar panels and collecting rainwater for pitch irrigation.
In 2018, it was renamed after Johan Cruyff, one of the greatest footballers ever, in honor of his contribution to Dutch football. The ArenA is a must-visit for football fans, offering stadium tours where visitors can see Ajax's trophy room and step onto the legendary pitch.
