Anfield is a football stadium in Liverpool, England, home to Liverpool FC. It was originally opened in 1884 when John Orrell rented the pitch out to Everton FC. Everton won the first match at Anfield in September 1884. A few years later, Liverpool arose and moved into the stadium, and Everton left to build their own stadium. In 1903 the stadium added three stands, currently where the main stand, Kop, and Anfield Road End are. A few years later, the final stand was added to the fourth end of the ground, and in 1928 the Kop was redesigned so that the stadium could hold 30,000 people on a matchday. In 1963 the Kemlyn Road Stand was knocked down to accommodate a new stand that would seat 6,700. After many more years and renovations, Anfield has been turned into an all-seater stadium with a capacity of 61276.
