Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium is the largest stadium in Lebanon, located in Beirut. Named after former Lebanese president Camille Chamoun, the stadium was originally built in 1957 and has been a key venue for Lebanese and international sports events. It has a seating capacity of 49,500, making it the largest stadium in the country and one of the biggest in the Middle East.
The stadium was heavily damaged during the Lebanese Civil War but was later renovated and reopened in 1997 ahead of the 1997 Pan Arab Games. Since then, it has hosted football matches, athletics events, and concerts. It serves as the home ground for the Lebanon national football team and has hosted AFC Champions League and international friendly matches.
Located in the Bir Hassan area of Beirut, Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium is a symbol of Lebanon’s resilience in sports. The facility includes a main stadium, an indoor arena, and training facilities, making it a key sports hub. Despite challenges, it remains Lebanon’s premier sports venue, playing a vital role in the country’s football and athletics scene.
