Estadio Jornalista Mario Filho is a football stadium in Rio de Janeiro, primarily home to Rio clubs Flamengo and Fluminense. It was originally built for the 1950 FIFA World Cup, and when it was built, it was the biggest stadium in the world, with a capacity of nearly 200,000. The Maracana has hosted some of the most remembered games in football history, like the 1950 World Cup final when the visitors Uraguay defeated the home nation 2-1, or when Flamengo and Fluminense drew 0-0 in 1963 in front of 177,656 spectators. In 2010 a major renovation took place to stage the Maracana for the 2014 World Cup. The renovation joined the lower and upper tiers, added more roofing, and decreased the capacity to 78,838.
