Odyssey Arena, now known as SSE Arena Belfast, is Northern Ireland’s largest indoor entertainment venue. Located in the heart of the Titanic Quarter in Belfast, it opened in 2000 as part of the larger Odyssey Complex, which also includes a cinema, bowling alley, and the W5 science center. The arena has a seating capacity of around 11,000 and hosts concerts, sporting events, and family shows.
One of its key tenants is the Belfast Giants, Northern Ireland’s professional ice hockey team, who have played there since its opening. The arena is famous for its electric atmosphere during ice hockey games, attracting fans from all over the UK and Ireland.
The SSE Arena has welcomed world-class artists, including Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, and U2. It has also hosted major sporting events such as WWE wrestling, boxing matches, and even Premier League Darts.
An interesting fact is that the arena was one of the first in the UK to use a flexible seating system, allowing it to transform quickly between different events. Additionally, its location near the Titanic Belfast museum makes it a popular destination for tourists visiting the city.
